Why is there a need for Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA's)?
From the 14th December 2007 all sellers of domestic homes will be required to provide a Home Information Pack (HIP) for buyers, which is a legal requirement that needs to be commissioned prior to the property being sold.
The Home Information Pack includes a statement of sale, standard searches, evidence of title & an Energy Performance Certificate. Energy performance is measured using A to G ratings as in the example below similar to those used on fridges & washing machines.
Under the new EU Directive , an energy assessment of all properties for sale will need to be carried out by qualified independant energy inspectors who belong to a professional accreditation body.
